Bethel

A close crag with a very short approach, and routes tend to be on the shorter side at around 8 to 15 m. Bethel Lake can be found off of South Bay Road at Laurentian University. Parking can be in the university parking area just before St. Joseph’s Continuing Care Centre or in the St. Joseph's parking lot if you’re feeling lucky. The original trail in to the crag was opposite of the university parking lot, but as climbers have been parking in the hospice parking lot there is a well-worn trail that ventures in from there.

Routes

 1  Marco's Climb | 5.11b | 5 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore 2012

There is a hanging belay bolt for this climb now accessed from the dock. Venture up to the slabby ledge left to the roof and traverse over to the right under the roof, pull the move out to the face, continue to the top remaining on the face and not bailing left to the easier exit.

 2   Reminiscer | 5.11c | 5 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore November 2023

A punchy start with a definite low crux, eases up as you gain some height but not a gimme pulling the move after the ledge.

 3  Al's Climb | 5.11a | 5 bolts

Hanging belay bolt at the bottom also now accessed from the dock. Climb up to the overhanging chunk of rock, pull some difficult moves on the left side of the bolt and up to a good ledge and continue up.

 4 The Forgotten | 5.11c | 5 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore 2012

Hanging belay bolt and accessible via the dock that gets you going onto a slightly overhanging face. Follow the bolts to the top, tricky 2nd to 3rd bolt and a heady 4th clip.

 5 Cui Bono | 5.10b | 5 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore September 2 2018

Start just left of The Shire. A few bomber holds takes you to the bottom of a left-leaning ramp. Follow the ramp either on top of it or out to the left. At the top of the ramp traverse left to access the easy final moves.

 6 The Shire | 5.11a | 4 bolts

A Sudbury classic.

 7 Centre Line 5.11d | 4 bolts

FFA Maxime Jacques May 2018

 8 5.10a | 3 bolts

 9  5.9 | 5 bolts

 10 5.7 Top-rope with top anchors

 11 5.10d | 2 bolts

Could have been a highball. A bouldery, short but fun route.

 12 Layback Attack | 5.10c | 3 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore July 29 2018

Venture up to the roof and as the title says, attack the layback to pull up to the final move.

 13 If It Ain't Got That Swing | 5.10b | 3 bolts

FFA Marco Foladore July 29 2018

Follow the line straight up to the second bolt then traverse right over to the third bolt hoping that you ain't going to get that swing.
