Field

Field has a couple of crags around town; the more well-known crag is located south of the town of Field with a two-minute approach from the car. The second is a close drive from town with a longer approach in but has an Ontario classic called Deep Woods Respect that rarely sees any traffic.

Paroi du Lac Clair: From Field, take Hwy 64 south for 2.2 km and then turn right onto Lac Clair Road. Follow for 2.8 km and then take a right onto Northshore Road, where you will find an opening to your right after 1.6 km. Park here and walk down the path for two minutes until you reach the top of the cliff. You can rap off of a tree or walk around either side to access the bottom. It’s a shorter cliff and all traditional climbing.

Crow's Nest:  From Sudbury travel east on the Trans Canada for 72km until you reach hwy 575 north. Turn left here and continue 25km to the town of Field. At the intersection of Hwy 64 right after you pass the library and Post office turn right onto Hwy 64 and continue for 6 km, you will pass Blue Sky Campground on your left and at the 6 km spot there will be a driveway headed left down toward an old abandoned railway track. The tracks have been removed and is now used as a quad trail. As a reference of where to turn, on the other side of  hwy 64 will be a house with two Bear statues. Once you turn north down the driveway (in the direction of the river) you will then turn west or left and continue down the rail bed. Cross the river (cross the bridge at your own risk, locals drive it all the time) and 600m after the bridge is an intersection, . This is where you will park your car if you have little clearance and don't want it scratched. Turn right and continue upon this trail for 200m where you will find a turn off on your left, park here. There is a flagged trail all the way to the cliff starting from the far left side of the turn off. About a ten minute walk. Deep Woods Respect, the obvious overhanging crack is located here and to the right of it is a wide crack with top anchors.

Paroi du Lac Clair - West Side Routes

 1  Shoulder Jam | 5.6 | Trad

A bit of slab at the beginning to the bottom of a big roof. A committing 5.8 move on a 5.6, moving to the right out from under the roof to some big holds. Continue up and around to the left to the exiting moves. Good pro above the committing move.
